Timber repair FAQ

Straight answers to the questions Brisbane homeowners ask us most. Still unsure? Call 0492 984 440.

Do you treat termites?

No. We repair the timber. If termites are active, a pest manager should inspect and treat first. Repairing before treatment risks the new timber being eaten too.

Does home insurance cover termite damage?

Most Australian home insurance policies do not cover termite damage. That is why regular pest inspections and fixing damage early matter.

How do I know how bad the damage is?

Often you cannot tell from the surface. We probe the timber and, where needed, remove linings or boards to see the full extent before we quote.

Can rotten timber be repaired or does it need replacing?

Small areas of soft timber can sometimes be cut out and patched. Structural timber and badly rotted boards should be replaced. We will tell you which applies.

Can you match old Queenslander profiles?

Usually, yes. Many weatherboard, VJ and moulding profiles are still available, and we can source or adapt timber to match closely.

Will you find more damage once you open up?

Sometimes. We quote on what we can see and probe, and if we find more once linings are off, we show you and agree the extra work before going ahead.

Can I just fill rotten timber?

Filler can work for small, shallow areas of decay on non structural trim. Where rot goes deep or the timber carries load, it should be cut out and replaced.
