Why Brisbane homeowners choose Brisbane Timber Repairs

Damaged timber is unsettling. We show you what we find, explain what needs replacing and quote clearly before work starts.

Find the full extent

We open up and probe the timber so the quote covers the real damage, not just what shows on the surface.

Match the original

Weatherboard profiles, VJ boards, mouldings and hardwood sizes matched as closely as possible.

Repairs, not treatment

We repair the timber. For live termites, we tell you to get a pest manager in first, so the problem is stopped before we rebuild.

Why timber homes in Brisbane need repairs

Brisbane is one of the worst places in Australia for termites, and its warm, wet summers are ideal for wood rot. Timber homes, especially Queenslanders and postwar weatherboard houses, often have damaged studs, bottom plates, floor joists, verandah boards and window sills hidden behind paint and linings.

Termite damage usually shows up as timber that sounds hollow, paint that bubbles, skirting boards that crumble, or doors that suddenly stick. Wood rot shows as soft, spongy timber, often where water sits: window sills, bottom weatherboards, verandah boards and stair treads.

What to do if you find termite damage

  • Do not disturb live termites. Spraying or breaking open the workings can make them move elsewhere
  • Call a pest manager to inspect and treat the colony first
  • Once treatment is done, we repair or replace the damaged timber
  • Keep the treatment and repair paperwork for insurance and resale

Found damage? Send us a few photos and we will tell you the next step, whether that is termite damage repair, wood rot repair or new weatherboards.

Common timber repair questions

Do you treat termites?

No. We repair the timber. If termites are active, a pest manager should inspect and treat first. Repairing before treatment risks the new timber being eaten too.

Does home insurance cover termite damage?

Most Australian home insurance policies do not cover termite damage. That is why regular pest inspections and fixing damage early matter.

How do I know how bad the damage is?

Often you cannot tell from the surface. We probe the timber and, where needed, remove linings or boards to see the full extent before we quote.

Can rotten timber be repaired or does it need replacing?

Small areas of soft timber can sometimes be cut out and patched. Structural timber and badly rotted boards should be replaced. We will tell you which applies.
